Episode Review: WWE Raw June 16th 2014

WWE Monday Night RAW-June 23 2014

Verizon Center, Washington, D.C

In the final episode of RAW before Money in the Bank, the top of the show saw Stephanie McMahon walk down to ringside.  There were ladders scattered around the ringside area.

She grabbed the microphone and expressed her discontent for gross negligence.  She targeted Vickie Guerrero and said that she couldn’t even get her a cup of coffee.  Stephanie called her down to the ring to face the consequences.  Vickie came to face the music.  Stephanie scalded Guerrero for her actions which to Roman Reigns’ qualification into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match this Sunday.  The ‘Billion Dollar Princess’ began to fire the SmackDown General Manager, but was stopped in her tracks, as Vickie pleaded for her job.  She was given the option to be fired, or have a match to try and save her job (if she won of course).  Stephanie told Vickie that the match would be against her.

Luke Harper vs Jimmy Uso

Harper seized the opportunity to take advantage of Jimmy when his back was turned.  The Wyatt Family member turned Jimmy inside out with a spinning ‘Lariat’ and pinned him.

As the Wyatts were leaving ringside, Jey asked Rowan where he was going.  He told him to come back so he could kick his butt all over the arena.  As they returned, Jey flew out over the top rope onto Harper and his forthcoming opponent.

Jey Uso vs Erick Rowan

Jey delivered a savate kick to Erick Rowan while Jimmy disposed of Harper.  Jey came off the top rope with a big splash and avenged Jimmy’s loss.

After the match, Harper and Rowan jumped the Usos.  The Wyatt family destroyed them.  Bray appeared on the Titan Tron and said how proud of his boys he is.

Lana and Rusev were in Washington, outside of the Capitol Building.  Lana criticized the leaders of the USA and talked about Russia being a better country.  Pictures were shown of the loveliest buildings the Russian Federation have to offer.  She put down the people of the USA and the government and promoted the “Revolution of Rusev”.  Rusev promised to crush America.

Naomi vs Alicia Fox

Naomi looked sharp when she defeated the crazy one with modified falling inverted DDT, which she has been using regularly later.  After the match, she had a standoff with Paige who incidentally, was on commentary.

Backstage, Sheamus was getting ready for his match in the trainer’s room.  Roman Reigns walked in and was asked by the ‘Celtic Warrior’ if he was ready.  Reigns confirmed that he was.  Sheamus told him that it would be magic when he walks out of MITB, Champion.  Reigns said that he doesn’t believe in magic, he believes in himself.

Bo Dallas vs Titus O’Neil

Bo told Titus that he fell off the horse, got back on and fell off again.  He suggested that all he had to do is “Bo-lieve”.  Perhaps Titus doesn’t, because he fell short of a victory when Dallas beat him with the ‘Bo-Dog’.

He taunted Titus after the match and bragged that he was “9 and BO”.

Triple H came to the ring.  He found it ironic that he has come to the place where people make bad decisions every day, yet he is still the bad guy.  ‘The Game’ announced that there would be a traditional Money in the Bank Ladder Match.  The participants involved: Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Rob Van Dam and Bad News Barrett.  Following the announcement, Seth Rollins came out to a chant of “You Sold Out”.  he told them that he created the Shield and had the right to destroy it.  Rollins added that he took the Shield as far as they could go and so, dropped the dead weight.  RVD interrupted Triple H’s newest toy and told him that he thinks people don’t take him seriously.  Rollins insinuated that Van Dam was past it with a comment about it not being 2005.  ‘Mr Monday Night’ laid claim to some of his accomplishments, to which Triple H called him lame for talking about the past and not living in the now.  It led to a match.

Seth Rollins vs Rob Van Dam

Rollins powerbombed Van Dam into the corner, dropped on him with the ‘Curb Stomp’, but his pin attempt was broken by a livid Dean Ambrose.  Rollins picked up a cheap victory as a result.  Ambrose put a beating on Rollins and told Hunter to put him in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, because he’d show up, smash Seth’s face in and grab the briefcase anyway.

Backstage, Rollins told Triple H to put Ambrose in the match.  He told him that he doesn’t want to be screwed.  At least that way he can see the look on his face when he grabs the briefcase.  HHH said that he was in the match and commented that he loved Seth’s confidence.

In the arena, Bad News Barrett addressed his loss last week to Dolph Ziggler.  He called it a fluke and said that after beating him now and on Sunday, Dolph would be embarrassed and would have to change his name.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Bad News Barrett vs Dolph Ziggler

After delivering a face buster from the top rope and a ‘Fame-Asser’, the ‘Show Off’ couldn’t get the job done.  Barrett delivered the ‘Bull Hammer’ while Ziggler was mid-air for the three count.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero was stood with Renee Young.  Vickie said that she knew she wasn’t the most popular person backstage but has no regrets.  She claimed to have been insulted more than anybody in the history of WWE, but no longer was she the Authority’s walking mat.  Randy Orton approached and told her that she’d get what she deserves and he would on Sunday too.  Cruel, Randy said that he would say that it had been nice knowing her, but it would be a lie.

Stephanie McMahon vs Vickie Guerrero

Vickie was stood in the ring as Steph came out in her dress.  McMahon said that she could see that Vickie Guerrero was dressed to compete, but the match wasn’t going to be in the ring.  She pointed at a pool full of something gooey.  She told Vickie that the first one in loses.  Layla, Rosa Mendes and Alicia Fox came out to do Stephanie’s dirty work.  Surprisingly, the SmackDown General Manager disposed of them and all three went plunging into the pool.  When Vickie’s back was turned Stephanie pushed her in.  After the match, the principal owner of the WWE sang goodbye to the fired widow of Eddie Guerrero.  With nothing to lose, Vickie threw her into the pool of goo.  Eddie’s music his and she saluted her husband and then the crowd.  Unfortunately, that was her final appearance in the WWE.  Thanks for nine years of entertainment Vickie.

Byron Saxton was standing with Goldust.  He said that last week, he didn’t see Cody, he saw Stardust.  Stardust appeared, singing ‘When You Wish upon a Star’.  Goldust joked that now he is the normal one.

Jack Swagger vs Kofi Kingston

Swagger made Kofi tap out to the ‘Patriot Lock’.

Alberto Del Rio was with Renee.  He said that he is undefeated in Money in the Bank matches.  He won and cashed in.  Paul Heyman intervened and said that he is part of 21-1 when Lesnar conquered the Undertaker’s… need I go on?  Alberto asked Cesaro if ever talks or whether he is just Heyman’s little puppet.  Cesaro said that he speaks five languages and none of them are loser.

Damien Sandow came to the ring dressed as Abraham Lincoln.  He said that a while back he heard that people said that he wasn’t entertaining.  He said that he would rather spend a night in Ford’s Theater, than have anyone control his career (Did Vince McMahon tell him to say that?).

Damien Sandow vs Big E

Guess what? Big E hit the ‘Big Ending’ on Abraham Lincoln.

Big E expressed his frustration with Lana and Rusev.  Lana entered the arena, only to calm him foolish.  Rusev attacked Big E from behind and stretched him out with ‘The Accolade’.

John Cena was interviewed by Renee Young.  He said that the time for talk was over and it was time to see who would be the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.  He said you could bank on that the Champ is Here, referring to himself.

John Cena, Roman Reigns & Sheamus vs Cesaro, Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio & Bray Wyatt

Cena delivered an ‘AA’ on Orton before Del Rio attempted the cross arm breaker.  John countered and gave him the ‘Attitude Adjustment’ too.  Cesaro lunged for Cena and caught him with a flying uppercut.  Sheamus followed the ‘Swiss Superman’ in and knocked his head of with the ‘Brogue Kick’ and secured the victory.

After the match, Kane came out and exploded on the participants of the upcoming Championship Ladder Match.  Triple H came out and announced that Kane would be the eighth Superstar to enter the match.  As Kane raised his arms to ignite the pyro, Roman Reigns came out of nowhere and speared him.  He stared Randy Orton and Triple H out to close RAW.
