Episode Review: WWE Raw – March 17th 2014

WWE Monday Night RAW-March 17 2014

AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas

RAW opened with Triple H already in the ring.  He began by saying that when it’s all said and done it is the WWE Universe’s fault.  He told everybody that he will end the ‘YES Movement’ and end Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.  “H” said that he wasn’t upset about it but he’d do what he does best and that is beat down Bryan.  ‘The Game’ mentioned that he had a few things to say to Daniel Bryan’s face but he’d do it later in the show.

Batista, the number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship interrupted.  He said that he wasn’t cool with the possibility of Daniel Bryan entering the main event.  He had won the right to main event WrestleMania by winning the Royal Rumble.  Triple H assured him that there was no way Bryan would beat him to advance.

Randy Orton chimed in next.  He agreed with Batista.  Triple H asked whether Daniel Bryan had gotten that much into their heads.  Batista said “Not as much as you”.  Orton told ‘The Animal’ that nobody cared about him and Batista said that he was only champion because of Triple H.  Sick of their arguing, ‘The Game’ went to leave.  He said he was sick of Bryan, sick of the fans chanting his name, sick of returning movie stars and gifted athletes not being able to get the job done without him.  Hunter, who was livid, announced that there would be a Triple Threat in the main event at WrestleMania, with the winner of Bryan/Triple H advancing.  Both of his old running buddies were seething.  Randy then took Batista out with the ‘RKO’.

Backstage, Batista told Renee Young that coming back was a big mistake

The Usos vs The Real Americans

The seeds were sown for this match on SmackDown, after The Real Americans attacked the Rhodes brothers after their loss.  Jimmy super kicked Cesaro to the outside.  Both Usos, double teamed Jack Swagger with a Samoan drop.  Jey flew out on to Cesaro from the top rope, but he was caught with an uppercut.  Cesaro rolled him back in the ring and dropped the Tag Team Champion with the ‘Neutralizer’ for the win.  The Real Americans worked well together without argument.

Kane was backstage with the Shield he said, that some regrettable things happened on Smackdown but he needed a united Shield, otherwise they were not an asset but a liability.  Rollins and Reigns confirmed their unity. Kane explained that they will do what’s asked of them, because they are replaceable.

At ringside, Hornswoggle was handing out St Patrick’s Day goodies to fans.  Bad News Barrett ascended to half of the arena’s height.  He called Hornswoggle a real life Leprechaun.  Barrett announced that he had some bad news (what else?).  He said that most people will spend the holiday getting drunk and vomiting.  Then they’d wake up hung-over and full of regret and spend the rest of their lives regretting it.

Sheamus made his way to ringside wearing an Ireland Rugby shirt, ready for a St Patrick’s Day Showdown.

Sheamus vs Titus O’Neil

Titus appeared with a Leprechaun style beard.   Sheamus pounded the former ‘Primetime Player’ with the ‘Ten Beats of the Bodhrán’ and ‘Brogue Kicked’ his way to victory.  After the match, he wished everyone a Happy St Paddy’s Day and talked about Ireland’s win against England in the Six Nations Trophy.  He then announced his entry into the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.  Christian who had been doing commentary attacked the ‘Celtic Warrior’ and threw him into the steel steps before drilling him with the ‘Killswitch’.

John Cena addressed Bray Wyatt’s recent comments.  He said that he is afraid of Bray Wyatt.  He is afraid of who he is and what he stands for.  Cena made it known that Bray doesn’t care about being the best, all he wants to do is destroy everything.  At WrestleMania Cena claimed that he will fight for his legacy.

Bray Wyatt appeared on the Titan Tron.  He proclaimed that children want to believe in superheroes, to believe that the world is good, but they hadn’t lived long enough to know that life is a lie.  He said that he could be like Cena and kiss babies, sign autographs and tell jokes to make him feel better.  But Bray is different.  Wyatt told the fans that, at WrestleMania, he didn’t care if he ever leaves or if he dies, just as long as the world sees Cena the way he does… Follow the Buzzards.

No Disqualification match: Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton

Bryan punished the WWE World Heavyweight Champion by striking him over and over again with a Kendo stick.  Unable to fend Orton off completely, the champ blasted Bryan with a chair shot to the back from outside the ring.  As Orton rolled an unbalanced Daniel Bryan back into the ring, Batista appeared and speared Randy with conviction.  The head of the ‘YES Movement’ dropkicked ‘The Animal’ to the outside of the ring and Daniel simply pinned Randy Orton for the three off of Batista’s offence.

After the match, Batista gets back in and hits the ‘Batista Bomb’ on the ‘Viper’ and leaves the ring.

Paul Heyman appeared on stage.  He confessed that it was an uncomfortable truth, but Brock Lesnar would conquer the Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak and that the Undertaker and his streak will rest in peace.

Backstage Stephanie McMahon quizzed Triple H on what he was thinking.  She wanted to know what would happen to their family if he were to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and go out on the road again.  She wanted to know why Triple H wanted to talk man to man with Daniel Bryan after the way he disrespected them, the week before.

Goldust vs Fandango

Goldust and his brother Cody spent a couple of minutes mocking Fandango and Summer Rae with their own style of ballroom dancing.  Summer Rae climbed onto the ring apron during the match and Goldust scared her.  She fell and landed in the arms of Cody Rhodes.  She didn’t seem too unhappy about it either.  Fandango went for the leg drop off the top rope, but missed.  The ‘Bizarre One’ capitalized when he hit the ‘Curtain Call’ for the win.

After RAW was occupied last week in Memphis, Kane asked Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler to join him in the ring.  The Director of Operations believed that he was behind the whole thing as it was his hometown.  Things got worse the Shield surrounded the ring and King had nowhere to go as they boxed him into the corner.  Just as he thought the Shield were going to attack Lawler, they faced in the other direction and finished Kane off with their patented Triple Powerbomb.

The Funkadactyls vs AJ Lee & Tamina

AJ and Tamina took turns on wearing down Cameron, weakening her to the point of defeat.  However, Cameron was able to make a final stretch and tag Naomi.  In her first match after injury, she was a house of fire.  Naomi was able to fend of Tamina’s interference and execute the split-legged moonsault on AJ for the pin.  After the match, the Divas Champion blamed Tamina for the loss.  The second generation star shoved AJ to the floor as she stood there with a look of shock on her face.

Mr T was announced as being the next inductee into the Class of 2014 WWE Hall of Fame.

Big Show, Mark Henry, Big E & Dolph Ziggler vs Damien Sandown, Alberto Del Rio & Rybaxel

After Big E clotheslined Ryback over the top rope, Alberto kicked him to the head.  Dolph Ziggler came in and nailed Del Rio with the ‘Fame-Asser’ and went to the outside taking ‘Mexico’s Greatest Export’ with him.  Meanwhile, Sandow tried his luck with the Big Show.  But the ‘Giant’ wasn’t too bothered by it as he chokeslammed his team’s way to victory.

Renee Young caught back up with Batista.  He said that he has never quit at anything in his life and he doesn’t care who he faces.  He will walk out as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Kofi Kingston vs Bray Wyatt

In a bigger squash match than last week, Bray Wyatt had his way with the high flyer before hitting a devastating running splash, then driving Kofi into the mat with Sister Abigail.

Triple H called out his opponent at WrestleMania to come down.  Hunter told Bryan, that everything he has done to him since SummerSlam is what he felt was best for business.  He told Bryan that nothing was personal and at WresttleMania he will do what he has to do and that is end the ‘YES Movement’.  He offered to shake Daniel Bryan’s hand but was.  Stephanie rushed to the ring and made it clear that with the number of people in the ring last week, it was a safety violation and he broke the law.  She had police men arrest him.  Triple H told the police to move because that’s not what he wanted.  He then revealed that they were not cops.  Bryan’s hands were cuffed behind his back and he was easy prey for ‘The Game’.  He was whooped all over ringside and Stephanie got a good few slaps in too.  RAW went off the air with Triple H and his wife standing over a fallen Daniel Bryan after he was ‘Pedigreed’ in the cuffs.
