Episode Review: WWE SmackDown – February 28th 2014

WWE SmackDown-February 28 2014

BMO Harris Bradley Center. Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Batista made his return to SmackDown.  As ‘The Animal’ made his way to ringside, he was met with roaring boos.  He told the fans that he came back to the WWE because he loves the business.  He didn’t come back to please the fans or be liked but because he wants to be WWE Champion.  Batista said that fans didn’t have to support him but they do have to respect him.  ‘The Animal’ claimed that he is better than Hulk Hogan and The Rock.  He made fun of the WWE Universe for favouring 155 pound guys over him.  Everything about him screams WWE World Heavyweight Champion and he told fans that he would destroy all of their heroes on his way to WrestleMania XXX.

Dolph Ziggler came to the ring and challenged Batista, who gladly accepted.  He laughed at the ‘Show Off’, so Ziggler rewarded him with a dropkick.

The Real Americans vs Mark Henry and Big E

Henry levelled swagger with a series of clothelines and followed up with a one handed suplex.  The ‘World’s Strongest Man’ went for the ‘World’s strongest Slam’ but was booted by Cesaro.  Big E took Cesaro outside the ring, where the two brawled.  Jack Swagger trapped Henry with the ‘Patriot Lock’, but Cesaro who was back on the apron reached over and tagged himself in, breaking the submission hold in the process.  Cesaro, dropped the ‘World’s Strongest Man’ with the ‘Neutraliser’ and picked up the victory for the Real Americans.

Backstage Alberto Del Rio told Vickie Guerrero that he wanted the night off.  She refused.  Sheamus approached and challenged Alberto to a match.

Sheamus vs Alberto Del Rio

The ‘Celtic Warrior’ clobbered Del Rio with his ten clubbing blows.  ‘Mexico’s Greatest Export’ recovered and sent Sheamus into the corner and connected with a super kick to the jaw.  Alberto only managed to get a two count.  He went for a side kick and missed, giving Sheamus a second wind.  The ‘Great White’ locked in the cloverleaf.  However, before Del Rio could submit, Christian ran to ringside and attacked Sheamus.  Sheamus threw ‘Captain Charisma’ to the outside and nailed Alberto with the ‘Brogue Kick’.  Christian came back in and drove Sheamus’ head into the mat with the ‘Killswitch’ before he and Alberto Del Rio continued the assault. Alberto was disqualified due to Christian’s interference.

After clips were shown of Hulk Hogan’s return and Daniel Bryan’s Challenge to Triple H, the big Bulgarian, Alexander Rusev cut a promo on stage in his native language.

The Shield was backstage arguing that Dean Ambrose was lost.  They agreed that they would regroup when they take out the Wyatts.

Batista vs Dolph Ziggler

Dolph blocked a powerbomb and took ‘The Animal’ down with a kick to the knee and the ‘Fame-Asser’.  Batista kicked out but Ziggler applied the sleeper hold.  ‘Big Dave’ escaped by grabbing the rope.  He hit the spinebuster three times before hitting the devastating ‘Batista Bomb’ for the victory.

The Wyatt Family graced the WWE Universe with their presence.  Bray said that John Cena is a liar and is the man that “plays all of us”.  Wyatt added that he will slay the dragon, again referring to Cena before his “Follow the Buzzards” catchphrase.

The Shield crashed the party but Triple H came out and arranged a match for this coming Monday, a six man tag team match between The Wyatts and The Shield.  Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose took out Luke Harper and Erick Rowan and Bray Wyatt cowered away.

WWE Divas Championship Match: AJ Lee vs Cameron

Tamina is sent to the locker room after her interference and Cameron flew at the champ with a cross body.  AJ made a recovery and hit the Funkadactyl with a kick to the face.  She locked the challenger in the ‘Black Widow’ forcing her to submit.  AJ Lee retained her title.

Highlights of the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar’s contract signing was shown from the previous RAW before the announcement that Brock Lesnar will confront the ‘Phenom’ on this coming Monday.

Daniel Bryan & The Usos vs Kane & The New Age Outlaws

Just like everywhere he goes, Daniel Bryan was the most popular Superstar of the night.  The foreman of the ‘YES Movement’ kicked things off with ‘Bad Ass’ Billy Gunn.  Kane went for a double chokeslam on the Usos but they super kicked him.  Then they took out the Roadogg.  ‘Mr Ass’ planted Daniel Bryan with the ‘Fame-Asser’ but could only get a two count.  Bryan blocked Billy Gunn’s suplex and nailed him with an almighty boot.  Bryan secured the victory for his team using his running knee to knock out the Tag Team Champion.  SmackDown ended happily for all of the Daniel Bryan fans around the world.
