WWE Smackdown-May 30 2014
Philips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
This edition of SmackDown kicked off with the Shield in the ring. Seth Rollins declared that what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Dean Ambrose went on to say that they don’t care if Evolution beat them up, because they will see just how far the ‘Hounds of Justice are willing to go. He reminded everybody that it’s not just, no holds barred but victory by rules of elimination. He asked Evolution how far they are willing to go, because it would get ugly. Roman Reigns warned Evolution that they had made a mistake and would put them through any table he could find, “Believe that, believe in the Shield”.
Cesaro vs Kofi Kingston
The, most celebrated jobber (pains me to say that about such a talent) Kofi, leapt into the air and ran into Cesaro’s huge European uppercut, which gave the ‘King of Swing’ the win. After the match, Cesaro added insult to injury by dropping Kingston with the ‘Neutraliser’.
Backstage, Bad News Barrett said that he was not scared of Sheamus and he was the Intercontinental Champion, not just a United States Champion.
Paige vs Tamina Snuka
Tamina Snuka used her size to dominate Paige, but the Diva from Norwich, England was far from being a beaten woman. Alicia Fox came to ringside and grabbed the Divas Championship and walked around the ring. Meanwhile, Tamina went for a Samoan drop, but Paige countered it and hit the ‘Paige Turner’ followed by the ‘PTO’, for the win.
Sheamus was interviewed. He said that he tried to keep things professional with Cesaro and it was the ‘Swiss Superman’ who made it personal. ‘The Celtic Warrior’, confidently told the WWE Universe that when he ‘Brogue Kicks’ Barrett, it won’t be bad news, but good news.
Bo Dallas vs Xavier Woods
Woods went for a flying crossbody over the top rope, but Dallas dropkicked him in mid-air. The former NXT Champion caught Woods with ‘BOdog’ for the win.
Post-match, Dallas told Woods that we are all winners and hugged him.
El Torito vs Jinder Mahal
Torito missed a springboard crossbody, as 3MB and Los Matadores fought on the outside. El Torito powerbombed Jinder and defeated him with a moonsault.
When Hornswoggle got in the ring, Torito ran at him with garden shears, trying to cut his hair. The mini rock star escaped and ran to the locker room.
Sheamus vs Bad News Barrett
With Paul Heyman on commentary, Sheamus failed to drop Barrett with ‘White Noise’. The United States Champion missed the ‘Brogue Kick’ and was hit with the ‘Winds of Change’. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ kicked out and was picked up by the Intercontinental Champion. Sheamus escaped an inevitable assault and whacked Bad News with the ‘Brogue Kick’ for the win.
Following the match, Sheamus grabbed Heyman, who was begging the Irishman not to hurt him… he didn’t.
The Usos cut a promo backstage. Jey said that they can take a licking and keep on ticking. Jimmy vowed to keep Bray down for the ten count.
Big E vs Titus O’Neil
Big E carried the American flag to ringside, which irritated Lana enough to come out and object. The ‘Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev joined Lana and watched the match.
Big E tackled Titus and delivered a big splash. He easily defeated the former ‘Primetime Player’ with the ‘Big Ending’.
Adam Rose vs Jack Swagger
This match was forgettable. However, Adam Rose is entertaining and his comedic skills entertained the audience before the match began. Swagger caught Rose with a couple of kicks, but it was Rose who scored the victory with a roll up.
Last Man Standing Match: Bray Wyatt vs Jimmy Uso
While Bray had been knocked down on the outside, Jimmy nailed him with a splash from the back to the guard rail. Wyatt did make it to his feet at nine. Meanwhile, Harper and Rowan attacked Jey. Jimmy super kicked them and prevented more interference. Jimmy once again tried his luck with a splash from his behind and missed. Bray brutally brought Jimmy down with ‘Sister Abigail’ to the floor and won the match after the Uso failed to get to his feet before the ten count.
